An E-mail from Don - W3DRM - Aug, 25th

At last, I am back on the air relative to my email. I apologize for not getting these emails out sooner.

Today is August 25th and the Tour de Tahoe is September 12th - only 18 more days until the big event. Time is slipping away quickly and I need to get assignments finalized quickly so everyone knows what they will be doing.

Paul Gulbro has forwarded me emails from those of you who have already responded to his initial email from me. Thanks for those responses. I will be getting back to each of you who have responded in the next day or two.

For those who have not, as yet, decided whether you will participate or not, I ask that you consider joining the team for this ride. The Tour de Tahoe is a 72-mile ride around Lake Tahoe. There is no spur to Truckee like there is for AMBBR. We will need operators at each of the rest stops as well as on the SAGs, as is usual. If you haven’t participated in previous bike rides, don’t let that stop you. The job is an easy one and lets you do what every Ham does best communicate on their radios by passing messages! You might even have some fun along the way

For those who are new to TARA or amateur radio, now is the time to start getting involved. Not sure of what needs to be done? Basically, we need radio operators at each of the rest stops and in each of the SAG (Support And Gear) vehicles. Your only duties will be to pass information to/from Net Control and the Rest Stop Captain or SAG driver. NOTHING ELSE is required. If you want to ride along on a SAG, rest assured, you will not have to manhandle bikes!

Please respond to this email and let me know if you are interested in working this event don’t forget to send me you t-shirt size too.

And, lastly, for those who volunteer and work the ride, I need your t-shirt size so I can get them ordered. Please include that information in your reply when you volunteer to work.
