On arrival at your assigned station please check in with the site captain. Introduce yourself and let that person know you are their primary communications source. That's the way the ride director wants it and that's the way TARA wants it. Ask that person where he/she would like to have you located to be of greatest service. Readily accessible but out of the way of their activities. Please don't assume you know where you should be stationed - circumstances could have changed from "last time".
Once you have checked-in with the site captain and have all of your communications gear ready to go, check-in with Net Control (NCS) and let them know you are ready for action. Your tactical id will be the name of the rest station you are located at or SAG number you are in (i.e., "Vikingsholm" or "SAG ONE".
It is estimated there will be approximately 1800 bikes on this ride. Each registered biker should have a number tag displayed (presume on their back) as well as a light-blue band (left wrist). It will enhance the response time if you can provide that number anytime you are placing information to NCS about a rider.
Structured, but loose, might describe what we do. If a communication is enhanced by direct contact from your station to another at some point, please request such from Net Control.
A 72 mile ride, with a shorter route (35 miles) for those taking the boat from Ski Run to Gar Wood (100 bikers maximum). Any choosing to side ride to Truckee and back are then unmonitored and on their own.
Water will be readily available at all stops. Food is 'iffy' - we'll try, but...well, you know!
Chilly in the early morning, but gorgeous all day.
Food will be available for riders and volunteers at the Horizon Pool anytime after noon. The ride director invites you, if you're inclined.
Health and Welfare of the participants, based on excellent communications, is always the TARA goal.
