From the pres:

Greetings Fellow TARAians !

We're poised to begin a new season of activities for TARA including an additional bike ride event in September!
We had a nice turn out for our April meeting and elected the officers and Board for the coming year.
Congratulations and Welcome to our newest board members, John Sloane, KC7AGI, and Don Swartz, AC7OV.
John has been active in many roles and will add his expertise to the TARA board.
Don brings with him a legacy of Amateur radio, not the least of which was his father Herb, N6ELV, who served TARA for many years.

Thanks to the officers and returning board members for their dedication to TARA and their time to insure the club continues to serve the local ham community.
Special thanks to Bruce, N7CPP and Al, KD7MXR for their past service on the board. Both have volunteered to continue their respective committee chairs for another year! Thanks guys for staying active in TARA! (ands a specail thanks to Bruce, see happenings below)
The official swearing in will be at this months meeting!!

And speaking of serving TARA, JoAnn, N7MBM, has come up with an idea for an Ambassador position. The concept would insure someone is monitoring the 147.24 repeater to welcome visitors and provide information not only in regard to Amateur Radio, but local area happenings also.
Stay tuned or better yet, add your input at our general meeting this May!

Finally, I'd like to thank the membership for again letting me serve as president for another term. I look forward to this year with our increased activities and new ideas to help us all enjoy our Amateur Radio experience. Paul, wa6ewv
PS... did I mention the drawing is WAY UP THERE!!!

Repeater Systems Report

The Ski season has ended at heavenly, and with it the "easy" access to our repeater sites.
As of this report, all is working again and I would hope it continues until vehicle access opens up sometime in late June (that is if the current wx gets better!!)

The UHF link to VACA is working well, so give it a try. Frank, wa6bth, plans on having the Berkeley repeater operational in a few more weeks, giving us access to the bay area via a handheld in Tahoe, Carson and Gardnerville areas.
The VACA Link is down as of May 13th!
Additional info on the TARA Systems page.

Packet has been active also, especially on HF. The TARA BBS has new users on the 7.101 USB channel. Check it out if you have HF access. The most recent check-in was from Germany (DH0GHU, Ulrich) !!!! 73
