wa6ewv Hello All! First, and this is a BIG FIRST! My thanks to John and Sheila Sloane for picking up the newsletter job! It will be nice to receive written notice to remind us of important TARA events and issues coming through out the year!

Well, our year is already shaping up to be a busy one. The AMBB is just around the corner (June 1st) and we're talking about adding a second event in Sept that covers the same territory. Stay tuned for more info on both of these.

An added event to fill in this April is the TARA makeup Christmas Party! We should have details soon at the March meeting, on the Monday night net, and web page.

We haven't made any decisions about Field Day this year. Have any ideas or thoughts on what TARA should do? Bring them to a club meeting and we'll go from there. We need volunteers to make it work.

Rounding out the usual calendar of events is the Death Ride and the Sept Bar-B-Q. So stay tuned to the usual channels and step up to enjoy the satisfaction of volunteering and learning about your own communication capabilities.

Two other important items, one, it's election time. It's time again to choose who will guide TARA through another year of Amateur Radio events and gatherings. Your votes help show support for our club and the nature of TARA's operations. Mark you calendars for the April Meeting.

And finally, I asked the board to reconsider the scholarship program for this year, and the second vote affirmed another year of participation. My push for such came from the previous meeting's experience. An individual walked in and identified himself as having seen me at the last awards. I feel this exposure for our organization, along with some additional P.R. of our participation through the local paper will result in added Community recognition. All of which can help TARA gain support with its intentions of becoming an important support organization in S. Lake Tahoe.
73 and hope to see you at a meeting!

Repeater Systems

TARA SYSTEMS REPORT - February 2003
backside of 147.24 Talk about a mild winter..
No problems since our heavy beginning in December.
The noise that plagued 24 has been temporally eliminated thanks to the cooperation of the agency involved. They've shut down operations until we can access the site this spring and take the necessary steps to allow all the radio systems to coexist.
24 will remain PL'ed as it seems to provide an extra measure of interference rejection and quite from "over the hill" operations.
I will eventually get 24 to announce the PL in one of its tail messages (like the time and temperature).
I'm also looking forward to bringing the Gorilla link back on line this summer, and still researching the idea of an internet link to one of TARA's systems. It will be after the snow has gone and access to sites is via automobile, rather then skis or snow mobiles!
As usual, additional info can be accessed by logging into the TARA web site.
73 for now, and think about a little more snow as we can use the water!
Paul, wa6ewv
