TARA News Letter for June 2002
TARA NEWS
issue date: June 27, 2002

from the pres:
Hello Taraians!!
Summer has arrived and we are in full operation with an extra communication event. Unfortunately, this resulted in TARA canceling Field Day. I would hope some of you took advantage of the local Nevada clubs and their Field Days!

I've received some input on our discussion of keeping track of our members, and hope to have a presentation for the October meeting. we'll discuss these good ideas and adopt a plan I hope we can make "second nature" for both the social and well being of our membership.

With the FIRE SEASON in full swing, I would ask you all to be extra vigilant and "keep in touch" via Amateur Radio so we can relay suspicious events between us and contact local authorities. We can also help the authorities by first contacting or announcing over the air accurate locations to check if the incident has already been called in. The 911 systems have been overwhelmed with fire calls. While this is a great help for the particular fire, it could cause another emergency to be late in getting reported. So, we can, in our own unique way, keep from adding to the tie up of 911 calls.

I hope everyone has a safe and sane FOURTH of JULY, and look forward to seeing you at our Sept Bar-B-Q!
