TARA Emergency Communications Drill
Article from Tribune - Thanks Dick for the PR!
TARA participated in the annual California State Emergency Hospital Drill with Barton Memorial Hospital.
Thanks to volunteers John and Sheila, (KC7AGI/KB7YFU), Todd and Zetta (AC6CN/AC6CO), and Dick Young, (KD7JMR).
(Thanks to Dick for the submission of the above newspaper article)
This year the event included communication with the Marshal Hospital in Placerville via 2-meters to coordinate available facilities.
(thanks to Frank Yost's (KA6GWY)linked repeater system!)
A new twist this year was the use of FRS radios to communicate from the Barton command center to the TARA Comm Van.
The FRS radios are used in the hospital on a daily basis, so there were no problems with possible RFI due to the higher power Amateur HT's in use inside the hospital.
